I wanted to write to give you a head's up - we had our house inspected this week for the sale and it turns out we have an active, albeit very recent termite infestation. Apparently the inspector mentioned that several homes in the Poplar Hill subdivision have seen recent infestations in the past several months. I know we never thought to look for termites when we were there, not sure if it was just naiveté on our part, but thought I would let the leadership know in case you can put it in the neighborhood newsletter to let other people know to be aware. We didn't have a termite bond so we are paying $600 to get it treated and luckily since it was so new there are no repairs needed.
In any case, I thought I would let you know in case it would be helpful information to others!

Robin Riccio made a motion to approve the third (3rd) proposed 2010 Budget and also to raise the Association Dues to $100 per year. Said motion was seconded by Andy Guertin and a vote taken. The vote was 16 FOR and 0 AGAINST.
ReplyDeleteAny time you have a vote like this it's scary no one went against it at all. Dues should be lowered not raised. No one gets a line by line list where this money is going, now they want to raise it one person said 120$ a year and now in theses hard times they want two payments in July =200$.
If there are flooding problems then Mr. Doss needs to talk to the Developers and not try to have the board charge us. Let them sue they cant win, and it would take 12 years to get to court.
I really wish I could have gone to this last meeting but some of us work a lot to make ends meet , that means a lot of weekends. I worked that weekend, I was put on the work list so no way could I do both. Seems like if you have the time to stick papers under the mailbox then we all could get a line by line document once per year too. The deal was to collect dues once a year and now they want two payments. Folks we may need to override these people, and go back to how it was when I moved in here. I am a life long Montgomery County Resident. This is a nice place to live but not if this board gets there way on everything, 16-0. That's not a vote ,that's 16 people telling us what we will do or what they will do to us if we don't. Have fun trying to get all that money.
Actually, they are following the bylaws after consulting an attorney. Dues in July are for 2010. $100, not $200. Dues in December are for 2011. Turns out they should have been collected in December all along but nobody noticed it until recently. So once the 2011 dues are collected in Dec. 2010, you won't see a dues collection again until the following December. They should have explained this more thoroughly in the newsletter.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the county, the farmer who's property is adjacent to the neighborhood is going to sue the entire neighborhood if our drainage issues continue to impact his farm so the issues have to be fixed. And according to the county, the developer is no longer legally responsible for these issues. We are, we being each and every homeowner in the subdivision. If the farmer sues, it will be difficult for ANYONE in here to sell their home.
This board has asked for input from residents more than any other board in the past 9 years (could be longer but that's how long I've lived here). And line by line documents are available if you didn't come to the meeting, they'll make you a copy.
Strange comments on the termite post. Neither seem to be related.
