New Drainage Upgrades

This work was just completed between Dabney Lane and Poplar Hill. A concrete drainage ditch was installed to properly drain the water run-off, which will eliminate the water build up (mosquitoes!) and the mud in the old ditch.

This heat is definitely something else! Hope you are all managing to keep cool!

It seems that the lawns are getting enough water to keep them from burning so far. We can be thankful for that! And we can hope that the heavy, heavy winds don’t blow through here with the rain and tear everything up!

The Board of the HOA would like to ask the residents living on cul-de-sacs to take some time to spray or pull the weeds that are growing in the middle area of the cul-de-sacs.

This Board had its first meeting in one of the members’ homes on July 18th. We had a good turn out and went over the last six months business.

PETS
Hello! I am a resident of Poplar Hill, and also a volunteer for Animal Control, and the Humane Society. I have noticed more and more missing pet signs posted at the front entrance of the neighborhood. I was wondering if there would be room to place a few lines in future newsletters telling residents that have missing pets to contact Animal Control to see if the animal was picked up. Animal Control will hold a stray for 3-4 days to see if the owner claims the animal. If it is not claimed, it is put up for adoption. If it is not adopted within 2 weeks +- they will put the animal to sleep. Unfortunately, the shelter has a very high euthanasia rate. If the owner of the missing animal would call Animal Control and give your contact information and a description of the animal they will put it on file and keep it for approx 3 months. They will call if they have anything come in the shelter that resembles the animal. I've had to do this before and it worked for us! I thought I saw a sign for a missing beagle this morning, and they do have a stray beagle at the shelter that is up for adoption.

Animal Control's phone number is 648-5750
If residents "like" Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter on Facebook they will be able to see all the animals in the shelter. Friends of the Shelter is a volunteer group that helps move animals out of the shelter and they update pictures of shelter dogs and cats a few times a week.
