VANDALISM – IT’S SUMMERTIME!
Four (4) incidents recently:
• Two (2) neighbors’ cars were spray painted in their driveways
• One (1) neighbor’s car roof was covered with slices of bologna and left to rot on the car. Thankfully, a neighbor noticed the problem and contacted the neighbor.
• My husband and I just wanted to make you aware that we had to call the Sheriff's office 911 early this morning around 1:30 a.m. due to someone opening up our fence gate and walking around the back of our house and turning on our water spout which is located under our master bedroom window. I was awoken when they opened the fence gate and then heard the running footsteps and then the water came on. I proceeded to turn on the back deck light and I think that scared them away but they left the water running. The sheriff's deputy came and made a report for the incident and walked the front and back yard. We believe it was probably some teens from the neighborhood as no car was heard or seen and we have seen teens coming out from the woods behind our home and walking between our fence and the back neighbors fence but by the time we get outside they are gone. We thought you might like to know if the board keeps records of incidents in the neighborhood.

PETS
Hello! I am a resident of Poplar Hill, and also a volunteer for Animal Control, and the Humane Society. I have noticed more and more missing pet signs posted at the front entrance of the neighborhood. I was wondering if there would be room to place a few lines in future newsletters telling residents that have missing pets to contact Animal Control to see if the animal was picked up. Animal Control will hold a stray for 3-4 days to see if the owner claims the animal. If it is not claimed, it is put up for adoption. If it is not adopted within 2 weeks +- they will put the animal to sleep. Unfortunately, the shelter has a very high euthanasia rate. If the owner of the missing animal would call Animal Control and give your contact information and a description of the animal they will put it on file and keep it for approx 3 months. They will call if they have anything come in the shelter that resembles the animal. I've had to do this before and it worked for us! I thought I saw a sign for a missing beagle this morning, and they do have a stray beagle at the shelter that is up for adoption.
Animal Control's phone number is 648-5750
If residents "like" Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter on Facebook they will be able to see all the animals in the shelter. Friends of the Shelter is a volunteer group that helps move animals out of the shelter and they update pictures of shelter dogs and cats a few times a week.
